My car’s AC broke and I want to know how I can keep the car cool without AC? I live in South Florida?

I’m 5 months pregnant and can’t afford the $750 to repair the AC and it is extreamly hot. Are there any portable AC’s I can use in a car or any way to keep it cool? I also tinted windows and that helps a little.

For this and for right now, I would focus on your own comfort instead of keeping the entire car cool. If your passengers are slightly warm, I feel for them, but “if momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy” should be your motto. True “air conditioners” tend to get more expensive the smaller and more portable they get, so let’s look at some alternatives.

There are some neck and headbands that use crystals to store water and keep your neck cool. If you haven’t noticed before, when you’re super hot and you put a can of cold soda (or the like) to the back of your neck or your forehead, it feels wonderful. I’ll toss a link up for one of the sites that has a polymer cooling system. It’s even got more than one fabric style, so you can get a couple and mix/match with your wardrobe. There’s also a “black ice” neckband that uses ice packs to keep you a little cooler, which is great if most of your car trips are short (store and back).

There is another type with active cooling, usually named the “personal cooling system” from Sharper Image, but I can’t seem to find a good working link for that. Amazon.com doesn’t show the greatest reviews for it, so perhaps it’s best to go with a cheaper solution until you’ve had a chance to get the A/C fixed.
