Window Repair Orlando
Can a landlord not to renew a lease that is based solely on complaints from tenants who arent repairs are done?
I live in Orlando, FL and began to rent a house in Mar 06. Our original mgmt company was sold to another company. We had to put in a repair request the first one they have sold. To make a long story ever in the new company was asked to repair so I put in another of November 2, 2006. It took keeping the company seven weeks to go (December 21) to inspect the problems we had with tile shower and windows. Then it took another month (January 18 .. 11 weeks after application) to come to fix only the tile shower. Then he would have to get a window company to solve the problem. The company window and then said it would be another 3 weeks before they can leave (12 February, 15 weeks after application). Now the company told me Admin are sending a certified letter, but tell me what it is. Our contract is up March 1, so what is a non-renewal letter. This is the only problem MGMT company has had with us. Can this not be considered leasing renweal retaliation?
Non-renewal due to the repair requests can be consider retaliatory measures by the statutes of Florida, yes. You could get a landlord / tenant lawyer difference if it is a letter of non-renewal but if I were you I'd probably just move due to the length of time the office is taking to make repairs. It could also be a letter indicating that the renewal period is approaching, you would like to renew? Florida requried this to be sent by registered mail I'm pretty sure, and I thought they were necessary to initiate the process of renewal or otherwise 60 days or sooner.
